Success Stories:EU
Pintail’s recent EU successes include the following:
FP7 e-Infrastructures: Our latest e-Infrastructures project has successfully passed its evaluation and has entered negotiation. This project builds on our excellent track record in this area. Partners include major players from Italy, France, Turkey, Jordan, Greece, Spain and Egypt.
FP7 projects: Pintail has worked closely with universities and companies in Ireland in the recent Health, ICT and Marie Curie calls. We've helped to assemble and submit two Health Streps, an ICT "Research for the benefit of SMEs" project, a life sciences Marie Curie ITN and another ICT STREP.
Update: one of these has not been selected, we haven't heard about the others yet. BUT the "Implementation" and "Impact" criteria (in which we were primarily involved) both scored 4.5 out of 5 points - an excellent mark, with very positive comments.
Europeana: Pintail has been appointed technical and EU consultant to an Irish government agency to work with them on the pan-European cultural heritage project "Europeana". Our role includes technology consultancy, EU expertise and reporting.
Update: making great progress!
ERA-NET: Pintail is currently (Q1 2009) working with an EU Government ministry to prepare a pan-European ERA-NET coordination action. This builds on previous fruitful and effective collaboration.
Update: This application has been successful.
Update 2: the same Government has asked us to prepare another proposal in the same area.
FP7 Success
Another Pintail collaboration, a FP7 project entitled PURSTEM, has been selected for funding by the EU. Pintail are a minor partner in this leading edge project, which focuses on the large-scale production of stem cells for research and therapeutic applications. Pintail wrote the project proposal, in a partnership with the project coordinators, the Regenerative Medicine Institute (REMEDI) at NUI Galway.
Update: PurStem has been successfully negotiated with the Commission and started in November 2008. Progress to date has been excellent.
Update 2: One year in, the project is proceeding smoothly. Pintail is managing the timesheets, the reporting, the liaison with the Commission and preparations for the 18-month review.
Update 3: We're starting to prepare for our mid-term review. All going smoothly so far.
eTen 2008
Our eTen project, ClearView, recently received the highest marks that our project officer can remember any project ever receiving at our half-way review. This reflects the quality and efficiency of our EU-related services, and our understanding of what the EU expects from its projects.
Update: ClearView has now passed its final review and Pintail is working with the other partners to finalise costs statements and bring the project to a successful conclusion.
Update 2: All costs have now been paid the project successfully "put to bed".
More Evaluation by Pintail for the EU
Pintail have been selected to provide evaluation services to the EuroStars programme of the EU. This exciting programme supports SMEs who have a high level of R&D activity, in their search for technological and scientific breakthroughs in any field.
Update: Pintail again reviewed for Eurostars in 2009. We've been asked again for 2010.
More FP7
Pintail worked with another Irish HEI, assisting them in the preparation of their application to the Commission under the FP7 programme. This involved pre-evaluation reading of the proposal, plus drafing of a small amount of key additional material to strengthen the application.
